LILIAN LLOYD

Lilian has always been fascinated with gems and minerals and after taking the beginner silversmithing course after her retirement 7 years ago, she was hooked.   Lilian feels that there are so many techniques to explore in silversmithing that she’ll never tire of it.  One of her favourite techniques she learned through the Club is wax casting, which allows her to sculpt and manipulate the wax into a mini work of art, such as a mermaid’s tail – or just about anything you want to cast in silver.  Lilian has also explored lapidary through the Club and she says working with rough stones to reveal it’s fully polished beauty becomes addictive.  Lilian recently became another of the Club’s beginner silversmithing instructors and also hosts open shop when her time permits.  You’ll often see Lilian’s “Project Reclamation” jewellery at our Metal Rocks show and other local artisan shows.
