Our club's purpose is to promote and encourage the phases of all aspects of our hobby. e.g lapidary work, mineral, fossil and specimen collecting, silversmithing and jewellery creation. During the months of May through September, field trips for mineral collecting are planned.
What is Lapidary?
Lapidary is the cutting, polishing, engraving and setting of stones. It is an ART and a CRAFT. As well as technical skills that are developed, the use and appreciation of colour, texture, design and form is developed. Our workshop is available to members 11 years to adult during designated hours. We will even train you!
Where?
Our club meets on the second Friday of each month from November to April inclusive, at 6:30PM. From April to October, we offer monthly field trips. Our Junior club for those 8 - 12 yrs old meets on Friday evenings once a month as well, from 6:30 - 8 PM. Our club is located at: 370 King Street West, Unit 209 Kingston, On, K7L 2X4
Membership Fees
Adult single $20 per year (18 yrs and over)
Family $25 per year (The immediate members of one family, both adult and minor/dependent. Children 18 and over will require their own membership)
Junior $15 per year. Any person applying for junior membership must be sponsored by an adult member in good standing of the Kingston Lapidary & Mineral Club.
A prospective member may attend as a guest a total of two regular monthly meetings without having made formal application for membership.
The workshop is available to members 11 years of age to adult at designated hours. Cost is $3/hr for open shop time. Please check our calendar for available times. We also offer silversmithing courses throughout the year on various evenings and daytimes as well as the occasional weekend for out-of-town members.
